Korean pop star arrives in Honolulu

Rain (the Korean pop star, not the weather) arrived in Hawaii on Sunday to defend himself in a lawsuit arising out of the cancellation of a concert there in 2007.

Without a trace of irony, the local press reports that at the airport Rain was greeted by dozens of fans (presumably the same 75 people who bought tickets for the 2007 concert), at least one of whom was in his 70s.

Yoo Ye-eun, a 5-year-old Korean girl, is being called “the next Mozart.” Blind since birth, Ms. Yoo began playing the piano by ear when she was 3 years old, memorizing songs after a single hearing.

Truth to tell, while the girl has obvious muscial talent, her current playing ability falls way short of the enormous hype.

Yet you would have to have a heart made out of the blackest coal not to be moved to tears by the end of this video, which has been viewed more than 27 million times:

Don’t stop believin’!

Legendary rock band Journey has an Asian lead singer. Filipino rocker Arnel Pineda made his debut with the band on February 21, 2008, in Vina del Mar, Chile, and hasn’t looked back since.
