I went to a party earlier today, and some guy started rattling off anti-Obama talking points. Obama got a lot of money from George Soros. Obama’s campaign won’t reveal the names of its contributors. Obama has no experience. Obama never served in the military. And one I hadn’t heard before: Obama won’t release his law school transcript. (Apparently, the future of the Free World turns on whether Obama wrote his way onto the Harvard Law Review.)
I was trying not to engage, but this guy kept going. Finally, I said:
“You know, it would be really great if all those people who said we should support President Bush because he’s the President would lead by example and show the same respect for President Obama.”
During the brief silence that followed, I bolted.
Even now, I’m not sure whether I should be proud of myself or embarrassed.
Or maybe a little of both.
Peace.
